WHERE TO DIVE ?

Riy Banks:  This spectacular boat dive is situated 21kms offshore.  It is a popular fishing area with an abundance of fish, game fish and sharks.  Pinnacles rising from the ocean bed are within four metres of the surface.  Large fish and salt corals characterise the magnificent reef.  The remote location often has good visibility and suits the more adventurous and experienced divers.  Depths vary between 11 and 35 metres.

Thunderbolt reef:  This reef got its name from HMS Thunderbolt which ran on to the reef in 1847.  Hard and soft corals are abundant and basket starfish are found draped on sea fans.  As one goes deeper there are numerous sponges and sea squirts as well as the hard tree-like hydrocoral Allopere (pink coral) which is a protected species. Maximum depth is 30 metres.

The Harlem:  A South African navy frigate scuttled in November 1987, specifically to provide a wreck to dive on.  Carpets of small fish hover around her upper deck.  Sponges and spans grow luxuriantly on her rusting hull.  Maximum depth is 21 metres.

The water temperatures range between 15 deg. ºC to 21 deg. º C with air temperatures ranging from 22 deg. ºC to 28 deg. ºC. Visibility averages between 2 metres and 15 metres +. With over 12 dive sites to choose from
